Ofcolaco
Ofcolaco is a small farming village on the Selati River in the Maruleng Local Municipality (Mopani District), about 43 km south-east of Tzaneen (postal code 0854). It is mainly a roadside service centre for the surrounding citrus and subtropical-fruit farms, with a fuel station, farm-equipment suppliers, a grocery store, a liquor store and a local market.
History
The name comes from the Officers' Colonial Land Company, which bought land along the Selati River in 1920. Retired British army officers demobilised after the First World War settled there and grew citrus and subtropical fruit, and some of their descendants still farm in the area. The settlers' original shared facilities no longer exist.
