Alldays
Alldays is a small, remote bushveld town in far-northern Limpopo, about 120 km west of Musina, close to the Botswana and Zimbabwe borders. It is a service centre for surrounding game, hunting and citrus farms and the De Beers Venetia Diamond Mine, and a stopover for the Pont Drift and Platjan border posts and Mapungubwe National Park (about 65 km).
History
Alldays grew as a farming and trading centre in the arid Mopane bushveld. Its economy has long rested on cattle and game farming (it is known for trophy hunting) and citrus along the Limpopo River; the opening of De Beers' Venetia Mine nearby in the 1990s added mining employment. It falls under Blouberg Local Municipality in the Capricorn District (2011 population about 3,000, mostly Northern Sotho speaking).
Getting there
By road via the R521 from Polokwane (via Vivo) or the R572 from Musina; the R521 continues north to the Pont Drift border post and Mapungubwe. Alldays Airport (FAAL) has a 1,450 m tarred runway for light aircraft.
Weather & climate
Hot, semi-arid bushveld climate: very hot summers with most of the little rain falling in thunderstorms between November and March, and dry, mild to warm winters with cool nights.
